An Assortment of Comics, Sketches and Whatnot

Like my friend Dave used to say, “What were Daryl and John doing driving through the field? They were haulin’ oats!”
Happy Birthday to my good friend Paul “The Cheese” Crimi.

Inspired by one of late MIT Engineer Nick DeWolf’s hella cool photos.
Here are the tools that I use when creating digital illustrations.
I draw on a $40 Monoprice 8×6 Graphics Tablet. It works as well as the Wacom tablets that I’ve used and it’s way cheaper.

As for software, after attempting to draw in Photoshop for a time (trust me…don’t bother) I discovered Autodesk’s free and awesome program, SketchBook Express. If/when I can monetize my illustrations I plan on upgrading to SketchBook Pro.
My friend Al will on occasion share some of the more obtuse and interesting comment spam that he receives over at his most excellent blog. This one caught my eye:
“You can certainly see your skills within the paintings you write. The sector hopes for even more passionate writers like you who are not afraid to mention how they believe. Always follow your heart.”
I mentioned that I would like to perhaps turn that spam into a three-panel comic…so without further ado…

PS: Feel free to leave me a comment

Learning to sit, learning to use my graphics tablet…
